An original one man musical by Eric Jordan Young and Wendy Dann. This production celebrates the intricacies of the legendary Sammy Davis, Jr and his role as a civil rights activist who changed Americas view of colorful entertainers. Playing over 30 characters, Eric Jordan Young addresses the question, "What does one do when they discover their hero is flawed?"
Sammy & Me recounts one man’s lifelong fascination with Sammy Davis, Jr – and his questions take audiences on a whirlwind journey from Sammy’s tap dance beginnings on the "the Chitlin' Circuit" to headliner on the Las Vegas strip he helped to desegregate.   Part self-portrait, part celebrity investigation, the answers that unravel are as powerful as the new questions they raise.

This new musical features over fifteen songs Sammy made famous, thirty characters, dazzling dance, all in one dynamic Broadway performer: Eric Jordan Young.

Sammy & Me was part of the 2010-2011 season at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, GA following an appearance at the 2007 National Black Theatre Festival and the world premiere  co-production between MusicalFare Theatre Company in Buffalo, NY and the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, NY.
